How can you help?
Everyone can play a part in helping to enhance the environment and to protect endangered species.
We invite you to be part of our success by helping out in the following ways:
- Make a donation
- Become a volunteer
- Adopt a track
Make a donation to our Kokako Nest Egg
All cash donations go straight into our "Kokako Nest Egg", an investment fund set up to ensure ongoing protection of kokako at Kaharoa.
Our aim is to accumulate $150,000 and we need your help to achieve our goal. The Kokako Nest Egg currently stands at just over $100,000.
The interest yielded by the Kokako Nest Egg will cover our pest control costs in the future. Every dollar you give us today will go on working to protect kokako for years to come.
The Kaharoa Kokako Trust is a registered charity. All donations made in New Zealand qualify for tax rebates.
You can make a donation by the following means:
- Send a cheque to Kaharoa Kokako Trust, PO Box 190, Rotorua, 3040
- Give on-line via Givealittle
- Give on-line via Geyser Community Foundation
Help out at our volunteer work days
The Trust holds occasional work days to conduct track maintenance and other activities in the Conservation area. We particularly need help when we are delivering animal pest control operations for the preparation of the bait station lines, delivery of toxin and removal of toxin.
These work days give volunteers an opportunity to enjoy the bush while completing a useful task. Volunteers are notified in advance of work days, which usually take place on the third Saturday of the month in the morning, followed by tea and refreshments.

Adopt a track
The Adopt-a-track scheme is designed for volunteers who want to conduct track maintenance in their own time. You can choose a track that suits your fitness level and keep it maintained at your convenience throughout the year. Contact the Trust if you are interested in doing this type of work
